The series portrays Lord Shree Krishna as the perfect son, husband, brother, friend, king and lover of many. Krishna's wives are believed to be forms of the goddess Lakshmi, who is the consort of Vishnu. Krishna also married 16,100 maidens who were being held in captivity by the demon Narakasura. The program touched on many different aspects of his life, through the retelling of the leelas, it is told that he was known as Makhan Chor (butter thief) and of his eternal friendship with Sudama as a good example of true friendship. It shows the different leelas, or stories, of Shree Krishna from his birth, childhood, teenage years, and time as prince of Mathura and prince of Dwarka.

Overall the serial's direction was to give moral teachings to devotees of Krishna through his life events but the script heavily missed the details and chronological order of events in sync with Hindu scriptures. Many other incidents and details also leave a student of Srimad Bhagwad Mahapuran and other Puranas in suspicion if they are mere fictions tales blended intelligently by script writers.

Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran does not include any reference to Uddhava being accompanied by Sudama but the TV serial showed otherwise. For example, the episode of Uddhava going to Vridavan and getting teaching of Bhakti from Gopis actually happened when Krishna was in Mathura (according to Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran) but was shown in the serial when Krishna was in Dwarka. It begins with Krishna engaging in battle with the wicked Kalayavana, an ally of king Jarasandh of Magadh, who has already lost 16 battles against Prince Krishna.ĭwarkadheesh – Bhagwaan Shree Krishna was distracted in its plot from the descriptions and sequence of Krishna's life, events as mentioned in Hindu scriptures (primarily Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran).
